Family Law Solicitor

Jeet joined Bell Lax Solicitors in January 2018 and is a highly respected family solicitor who specialises in all aspects of family law.

She advises on complex and straight forward divorce and financial matters , including properties, pensions and investments, her expertise achieves successful financial settlements for our clients.

She has a cool head and is highly organised which is crucial, in particular when she advises on children matters, including urgent applications and injunctions.

She also advises on Post and prenuptial agreements, and co-habitation agreements for un-married couples.

She is experienced in advising couples separating who have shared assets such as properties, and importantly sorts out children matters including custody, visitation and maintenance.

Jeet always strives to achieve her clients' objectives to ensure a favourable resolution which meets their long term interests and goals. This is done by negotiation and, where necessary, through the court process.

Jeet is a member of Resolution, the family lawyers' organisation which encourages a non-confrontational approach where possible, to reduce any long term disputes and the overall effect of family breakdown on both parties and especially on any children.

A relationship breakdown can be very emotional. Jeet’s clients appreciate her commonsense approach, and the fact she is approachable and has a calm, focussed manner. She is noted for her skill and ability to negotiate effectively on her clients' behalf. However, when negotiations do not succeed and it is necessary to go to court, she is a strong advocate for her clients.

Jeet’s approach to resolving relationship disputes is to consider her clients’ needs, objectives and long term interests and to offer practical advice on a cost effective basis.

Jeet has acted on a wide range of financial matters, including divorces where there have been significant assets, complex financial situations, complicated business interests, large pensions, investments and properties overseas.

Jeet has considerable experience of ensuring the interests of any children affected by a relationship breakdown are preserved as far as possible. Her experience includes reinstating contact for parents who have not been able to see their children and acting for parents who have needed help to stop contact between their ex and their children, in the interests of the children.

At Bell Lax, as one of the first firms to pioneer no win no fee work for commercial litigation, we have developed a number of innovative approaches to help family clients spread their legal costs while they resolve their financial situation when a relationship breaks down.

If a divorce is not contested we can offer you a fixed fee to deal with the court proceedings. We will discuss with you the financial issues which inevitably follow a relationship breakdown. We can offer a cost effective alternative to larger law firms, including payment plans and credit finance agreements where funding is required until a final financial settlement is reached.
