Jonathon Forrester

Jonathon joined the firm in September 2008. Prior to becoming a solicitor Jonathon served as a police constable with Staffordshire Police.

Jonathon’s experience in resolving disputes and dealing with difficult situations helps Jonathon to consider the bigger picture and find new approaches to solving his client’s problems. Jonathon has a particular interest in employment cases and claims against solicitors arising from employment disputes.

Jonathon has acted for numerous employers and employees. He has acted for employees on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis in cases of unfair dismissal through redundancy, unfair dismissal, sex discrimination, race discrimination, age discrimination, unfair deduction of wages and failing to consult under the TUPE regulations.

Jonathon has managed to achieve settlements in excess of £30,000 at a fully contested employment tribunal where Jonathon represented an employee client against two separate Respondents.

Jonathon has fought technical points of law at the employment tribunal ensuring that an employee clients was able to bring her claim against a well known firm of administrators and not the company in administration.

In addition to employment tribunal proceedings Jonathon has advised employees on compromise agreements.

Jonathon also acted for employer clients and has advised clients on the correct procedures for dismissal and redundancy. Jonathon is regularly instructed to attend disciplinary meetings to ensure that employer clients are following the correct procedures.

Jonathon has recently represented a local business who had been sued for unfair dismissal amongst other claims, which exceeded £70,000. Following cross examination, the Claimant withdrew his claim in its entirely half way through a four day trial.

Jonathon also acts for clients outside of the employment field. He has represented clients in matters of professional negligence, landlord and tenant disputes, rights of way issues, land disputes, construction matters, intellectual property disputes, disputes with insurance companies and contentious probate matters.

Outside work Jonathon is a keen golfer and runner. Jonathon has completed a number of half marathons and is aiming to complete his first triathlon next year.
