George Gwynn
  • “After researching the firm and speaking with the Directors, it became clear that the lawyers at Bell Lax were friendly and approachable, but a powerful and effective legal team. I joined Bell Lax because I wanted to be trained by litigation specialists.”

  • I could not have selected a better company. Straight to the point, informed every step of the way with a positive result. Thank you.

George Gwynn

Trainee Solicitor

George read Law with French at Bangor University. This included a year studying French Law at the University of Toulouse. He graduated from Bangor University in 2015 with a First Class Honours Degree. He then studied the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in Birmingham, obtaining a Distinction.

From the outset of his LPC, George was keen to join a specialist litigation firm. The varied and challenging work of dispute resolution appealed to him and he went on to study Advanced Commercial Litigation, Family, and Personal Injury Law.

In June 2016, George first joined Bell Lax as a Litigation Support Lawyer, working in the firm’s commercial litigation department and assisting senior lawyers on a range of cases including breach of contract, debt recovery and professional negligence claims. In September 2017 George progressed to become a Trainee Solicitor and continues to work as a key member of the Commercial Litigation team.

George has assisted on a wide variety of cases, ranging from shareholders disputes to high value construction claims. Last year, he assisted in successfully resisting a Winding Up Petition on behalf of one of Bell Lax's clients in a case heard in the Companies Court.

George has also been involved in numerous high value construction adjudications, including the entirely successful defence of a £1.2million claim brought at adjudication against one of Bell Lax's clients.

In a recent and interesting breach of trust case, George successfully pursued the proceeds of sale of a house in which one of Bell Lax's clients had a beneficial interest and managed to achieve a very favourable settlement indeed without the need to issue proceedings.

George has developed a particular interest in contentious probate cases, and has assisted senior lawyers in negotiating high value settlements on behalf of clients.  George enjoys the satisfaction of assisting clients in what can often be emotionally charged circumstances and is committed to developing his skills in this area.

George also acts on behalf of landlords in order to obtain possession of their properties. He acts for clients to evict tenants who refuse to pay rent or are in breach of other lease conditions. He is able to provide advice on the appropriate procedure to use to evict tenants and has attended numerous court hearings, appearing on behalf of landlords.

On behalf of another client, George obtained a court order to enforce a Final Decision of the Financial Ombudsman. This is an unusual application to make with various hurdles to overcome, but George succeeded on the application for his client.

Outside work, George enjoys keeping fit and the great outdoors. He got married shortly before joining Bell Lax. He is a member of the Lawyers' Christian Fellowship.
