I trust your career will be successful. I found you very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
I enjoy working closely with the senior lawyers in our commercial and family departments, to provide an efficient and cost effective service.
Emily read Law at the University of Reading and graduated with an upper second class honours degree in July 2013. She studied the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Birmingham, obtaining a Commendation.
In January 2015, Emily joined Bell Lax as a Litigation Support Lawyer. Upon starting at Bell Lax, Emily firstly worked in the commercial litigation department and assisted senior fee earners on a range of cases including breach of contract, professional negligence claims and disputes over wills.
Emily now works in our accident and injury team, where she again assists with road traffic accidents, as well as running her own caseload. Under the supervision of head of department Stuart Andrews, Emily is enjoying helping clients who have suffered from injuries recover the compensation they deserve.
Emily has recently successfully settled an accident at work claim and obtained just over £10,000 for one of our clients who comments:
"I have never made a claim before, and never thought I would. I was very naive and needed support. I was looked after brilliantly, thank you!"
Emily has enjoyed the high level of responsibility she has been given on cases. Most notably, she drafted the bill of costs for detailed assessment following a successful claim for breach of contract and was able to reach agreement on her client's costs, without the need for detailed assessment proceedings. Emily also played an important role in managing the data on a group action for professional negligence, under the supervision of Richard Kerry and Liam Owen.
Through her work as a Litigation Support Lawyer, Emily was able to develop her skills and confidence as a litigator, impressing clients and colleagues alike, and was offered a training contract with Bell Lax.
In January 2018, Emily completed her training contract and she now is now a qualified solicitor, specialising in Personal Injury claims including Road Traffic Accidents, Accidents At Work, Slipping and Tripping Accidents.
Emily loves travel and languages, and she combined the two by working as an English teacher in Chile for 18 months before going to university. She is also a hockey fanatic and plays for the local club in Sutton Coldfield.
