At Bell Lax, David has used this knowledge to act on behalf of a client bringing a claim for breach of copyright, successfully protecting his client’s intellectual property and obtaining damages from the defendant.
At Bell Lax, David currently works in the commercial department where he is an important part of the team handling a multi-million pound claim for breach of contract on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis. In addition to this, David deals with cases involving professional negligence, contractual disputes and debt recovery. David has obtained favourable settlements for several clients bringing claims on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis against firms of solicitors for professional negligence.
Since joining Bell Lax David has developed a keen interest in claims against newspapers. David recently settled a claim for defamation against a regional newspaper and is currently instructed on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis to bring a six figure claim for breach of confidence against a national tabloid. David was quoted by a national broadsheet in an article published reporting this on-going claim, which may have a huge impact upon the way British newspapers conduct investigative journalism.
David enjoys advocacy and has appeared before the court on several occasions. David has passed his higher rights civil advocacy training and is now able to conduct advocacy in all civil courts in England and Wales.
David is a keen sportsman, enjoying football, squash and golf amongst other activities. In April 2010 David competed in the London Marathon, raising money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.
David loves travelling the world. Taking inspiration from Michael Palin, David has trekked in the Himalayas, travelled the length of Central America from Panama to Mexico and visited the golden temple in India.
